Developmental Coordination Disorder
(Dyspraxia)
Assessment
"Grace isn't just in steps, it's in persistence."
Why Consider a DCD (Dyspraxia) Assessment?
You may consider a DCD assessment if your child seems unusually clumsy, struggles with motor tasks, or finds everyday activities harder than expected for their age. Common signs include:
- Difficulty with handwriting, scissors, or using cutlery
- Trouble with coordination, balance, or catching a ball
- Frequent tripping, bumping into things, or poor posture
- Challenges with getting dressed, tying shoes, or organizing tasks
- Avoidance of physical play or low self-esteem around peers
An assessment helps determine if your child has Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia) and identifies the right strategies to support their motor development and independence.
What to Expect During the Assessment?
At Families & Beyond, we provide a calm, encouraging environment where your child feels comfortable and capable. The assessment includes:
- A parent interview to explore concerns and milestones
- Motor-based tasks that assess fine and gross coordination
- Observations of balance, body awareness, and task sequencing
- Optional feedback from teachers or school reports
What Happens After the Assessment?
You’ll receive:
- A clear report detailing strengths, motor challenges, and any diagnosis
- Recommendations for therapy, classroom adjustments, and at-home support
- A feedback session to explain the results and outline next steps
Our aim is to help your child build confidence, improve coordination, and thrive in daily life.
