Multiple Learning Difficulties:
"Understanding comes in many forms, all of them valid."
Why Seek a Combined Assessment?
You may consider a combined Dyslexia and Dyscalculia assessment when your child shows ongoing struggles in both reading and math — even with extra support and practice. You might notice:
- Difficulty sounding out words, recognizing sight words, or remembering spelling patterns
- Trouble understanding number concepts, remembering math facts, or solving word problems
- Confusion with symbols like + / x / ÷, or difficulty with sequencing steps
- Avoidance of homework, low confidence, or strong frustration around learning
- A family history of reading or math learning differences
A comprehensive assessment helps identify whether your child has dyslexia, dyscalculia, or both — and more importantly, it shows how they learn best, so we can support them effectively.
What to Expect During the Assessment?
The Assessment Process Includes:
- A friendly introductory conversation with our Educational Psychologist
- A series of engaging, age-appropriate tasks that explore how your child processes words, sounds, numbers, and patterns
- Observations of attention, working memory, sequencing, and emotional responses to academic challenges
- Optional input from parents, teachers, and previous reports to give a full picture
We assess both literacy (reading, writing, phonological awareness) and numeracy (number sense, calculation, spatial thinking), along with any cognitive processes that may affect learning.
What Happens After the Assessment?
You’ll receive a detailed yet easy-to-understand report that outlines your child’s strengths, learning profile, and any formal diagnoses (such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, if applicable). We also include:
- Clear, actionable recommendations for home and school
- Suggestions for therapy or academic support
- Guidance on how to talk with teachers and help your child thrive
- A warm, one-on-one feedback session to walk you through the results Our goal is not to label, but to empower — giving your child and your family clarity, confidence, and a path forward that feels achievable and supported.
